Bahanuzi: One goal in six league matches

Said Bahanuzi
Kagame Cup golden boot award winner Said Bahanuzi is still struggling to score goals in the ongoing Mainland premiership much to the amazement of football fans across the country.
The former Mtibwa Sugar striker has scored only a penalty when his team played against archrivals Simba during their first leg match of the opening season on October 3 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The slim and towering striker has so far failed to sparkle despite taking part in all line-ups his team has been fielding during the league matches.
Bahanuzi is playing with the same combination of playmates in the premiership but poor finishing has ridiculed him to attain the peak he enjoyed during Kagame Cup.
While his team has managed to score eight goals and conceded seven for a poor aggregate of one goal, Bahanuzi was expected to sparkle if his Kagame Cup performance was anything to go by.
At one time he was disturbed by malaria bout but he is yet to rekindle fans’ hope as a marksman to meet their satisfaction.
Of the eight goals his team has scored during the past six premiership matches, four of them were realised when they played against troubled JKT Ruvu on September 22 at the National Stadium.
His team-mates Nizar Khalfan and Didier Kavumbagu have each scored double during the match against African Lyon and JKT Ruvu respectively.
His stunning goal predatory skills during the Kagame Cup impressed most of the fans including the national team coach Kim Poulsen who included him during a friendly tour of Botswana in August.
His floppy form might dent confidence of Poulsen in the next selection of the national team should he not make any recovery efforts in the subsequent premiership games.
The marksman has been ruled out of action for at least two weeks after picking up injury during his team’s sixth round match against Kagera Sugar last Monday.
