Simba Sc Defending champions Simba play away Tanga’s Coastal Union in one of the Mainland Premier League games set for today. The match to be played at Mkwakwani Stadium is expected to be a tough one considering that Simba will be struggling to maintain their unbeaten record. The home side will also be keen to make sure that they maintain their unbeaten record at the home ground. The city giants will likely miss the services of import striker Emmanuel Okwi who has joined his national team, the Uganda Cranes. The team is also likely to miss the services of striker Mrisho Ngassa, who according to the club’s spokesman Ezekiel Kamwaga, is suffering from malaria. The Msimbazi Street team will depend on their midfielder-cum-striker Amir Kiemba who currently leads in goal scoring, and some of the players who have been promoted from the youth team to the senior side. Simba lead the 14-team league on 16 points with a record of 4-1 against JKT Oljoro in their last game played at the National Stadium. Coastal Union last lost 0-2 in their away game to Ruvu Shooting, and are placed seventh with nine points. This will be Simba’s first league game outside the city and their home base, the National Stadium. Other matches set for today are: Polisi Morogoro who welcome Azam FC at Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro, Tanzania Prisons vs Oljoro JKT (Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya), Ruvu Shooting vs African Lyon (Mabatini ground, Mlandizi) and Mtibwa Sugar vs Mgambo Shooting (Manungu, Turiani). Meanwhile, Azam FC have asked the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to allow their home games against Yanga and Simba to be played at their home ground Azam Complex at Chamazi instead of the National Stadium. TFF Information officer Boniface Wambura said yesterday that Ruvu Shooting had also proposed that their match against Yanga set for October 20 be played at the National Stadium instead of Azam Complex. The spokesman said the proposals will be tabled today in the body’s executive committee meeting.
